TRAINING INITIATIVES
Rachel Stevenson and Shellbee Hadley-Smith complete their Transport Planning apprenticeship courses at Leeds College of Building. Jordan Winmill completes his HNC in Civil Engineering.

GTA office expansion
GTA expand their offices in Burgess Hill. This doubles the floor area to accommodate the expanding Transport Department.

GTA INTRODUCES TRANSPORT PLANNING SERVICE
Lawrence Stringer joins GTA Civils to lead our Transport Planning Team. He brings 27 years of experience working in the public sector with East & West Sussex County Councils.

GTA Civils undertake technical quality audits on major highway schemes in Africa.

Flood Risk services further developed
GTA Civils develops the flood risk assessment side of the business by branching into complex stream modelling. GTA’s ISO 9001 certification is renewed once again.

GTA office moves to Church Walk
GTA Civils moves to 66a Church Walk, Burgess Hill - located in the town centre and close to the railway station. The new office provides a bright and airy work environment for staff.

NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM TAKES GTA FORWARD
Neil Stevenson joins the company as a Technical Director. Gerald Tobias takes early retirement and continues as a consultant to the company. Emma Tobias hands over the Managing Director reins to Martin Roberts and is retained by the board as a management consultant. GTA achieves CHAS (Construction Health & Safety Scheme) accreditation at the first attempt!

GTA's 30th Anniversary
Emma Tobias becomes sole managing director and Martin Roberts is appointed a director. GTA Civils celebrates 30 years in business.

Changes to core services
GTA Civils decide to withdraw from mechanical and electrical engineering services. Focus is concentrated on the core business of Civils, Highways, Drainage and Infrastructure services.

Succession planning implemented
The directors implement a 5-year programme of succession planning. Gerald Tobias and Emma Tobias become joint managing directors.

Range of services extended
GTA establishes an association with Highway Associates. This small but very professional group of engineers deals with all aspects of traffic, road design and maintenance. As a result, our range of services extends to include highway engineering.

Incorporation of Peter Lines & Partners
The incorporation broadens the scope of services offered by GTA Civils to encompass a wider building services capability.

Launch of GTA Facilities Management
Emma Tobias launches GTA Facilities Management. It provides survey and project management services for minor to medium building services contracts.

1974
Gerald Tobias Associates established
Gerald Tobias establishes the private practice of Gerald Tobias Associates (now trading as GTA Civils Ltd). It offeres a consultancy specialising in those services associated with public health and infrastructure engineering. This includes drainage, sewage disposal, road and hard standing design, plumbing, water and fire engineering. Until the mid 1990's a large portion of its workload is provided by retailers Safeway and Sainsbury.
